The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) DAO has approved the creation of an eight-member Security Council with a two-year term. The council will operate under a 5-of-8 multisig mechanism, allowing it to veto transactions deemed malicious during a two-day timelock period after governance proposals pass.

The council’s authority is limited to canceling transactions and does not extend to treasury movements, proposal submissions, or overriding DAO decisions. Its mandate will expire automatically unless renewed by another DAO vote, ensuring periodic oversight.

The move aims to enhance security without centralizing control, addressing potential governance risks in decentralized protocols.
