The SEC alleges Mining Automatic and its founder misled investors in a $22M crypto mining scheme amid broader regulatory crackdowns.

The Securities and Exchange Commission sued Mining Automatic and its founder for allegedly defrauding investors out of $22M through a crypto mining scheme. The complaint marks the latest enforcement action under Chair Paul Atkins, who has prioritized digital asset regulation in the agency’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.

The SEC’s July 2026 rulemaking agenda proposed stricter oversight for crypto broker-dealers and digital assets traded on national exchanges. This push aligns with congressional efforts to clarify crypto market oversight, including the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which may face a Senate vote before August recess.

The lawsuit underscores the SEC’s focus on investor protection amid rapid growth in blockchain and tokenization markets.
