U.S. equity futures climbed after Iran indicated openness to negotiations, easing concerns over prolonged geopolitical tensions.
U.S. stock futures advanced early Monday as oil prices pulled back from session highs near $90 a barrel. The retreat followed Iran’s signal that it remained open to negotiations despite nine days of U.S. strikes, providing relief to investors.
Brent crude briefly topped $90 before settling around $88.25, while U.S. crude traded near $82.25. Equity futures saw gains, with S&P 500 futures up 0.36%, Nasdaq-100 futures rising 0.78%, and Dow futures adding 121 points, or 0.23%. Last week, all three major benchmarks posted losses, with the S&P 500 down 1.6% and the Nasdaq shedding 2.9%.
Chipmakers led the rebound, with the VanEck Semiconductor ETF gaining over 1% and Micron Technology rising more than 3%. Investors are also focusing on the upcoming second-quarter earnings season, which kicks off this week.
