Interactive Brokers’ client accounts rose 34% year-over-year
Interactive Brokers’ customer accounts increased 34% to 5.185 million in June from the same month last year. The company’s clients held $930.3 billion in equity, up 40% from the prior year.
The company handled 5.269 million trades in June, a 53% increase from the prior year. Margin loan balances also rose to $108.5 billion, a 67% increase from June 2015.
The growth in customer accounts and trades is expected to positively impact the company’s second-quarter earnings. The increase in margin loan balances will also generate more interest income for Interactive Brokers.
The company’s performance is a positive sign for its upcoming second-quarter earnings report.
