Vanguard’s growth ETF VOOG has delivered a 403% return over 10 years, surpassing the S&P 500’s 310% gain.
Vanguard’s S&P 500 Growth ETF (VOOG) has returned 403% over the past decade, nearly 100 percentage points ahead of the broader S&P 500’s 310% gain. The fund’s 0.07% expense ratio remains among the lowest in the industry, making it a cost-effective option for growth exposure.
VOOG’s outperformance is driven by its focus on high-growth mega-cap stocks, particularly in technology and consumer sectors. Earnings for the so-called Magnificent 7 have grown at 20% annually, compared to 11% for the broader S&P 500, widening VOOG’s structural advantage.
However, the fund’s concentration in top holdings like NVIDIA and Microsoft increases volatility. A miss in earnings from these stocks could lead to sharper declines than in the broader index.
