German brewer Eichbaum will cease operations after a court-appointed trustee and management concluded no viable path forward exists. The company, founded in 1679, filed for self-administration in October to restructure but failed to secure financial stability or an investor under current economic conditions.
Eichbaum cited geopolitical instability, unpredictable tariffs, and intense competition in the beer sector as key challenges. A March creditor-approved continuation plan, including an asset deal with an investor, collapsed due to insufficient funds, leaving closure as the only option.
The decision follows months of restructuring efforts, including a shift toward broader beverage production. The company warned that continuing operations would risk creditor interests, prompting the shutdown.
