The US Dollar Index retreated roughly 0.5% on Tuesday following softer-than-expected US inflation data, which showed the main rate cooling to 3.5% from 4.2% in the prior month. The print fell below the 3.8% consensus estimate, easing pressure on the Federal Reserve to maintain aggressive monetary policy.

Despite the inflation-driven dip, geopolitical jitters between the US and Iran lent support to the USD, offsetting some losses. Analysts maintained a base case scenario of a peaceful resolution, though uncertainty kept markets cautious. The Dollar Index remains sensitive to both macroeconomic data and geopolitical developments.

No immediate market reaction was specified beyond the initial move in the Dollar Index.
