J&J’s pharmaceutical growth, led by Tremfya and Darzalex, drives earnings beat and full-year forecast increase.
Johnson & Johnson reported second-quarter sales of $25.31 billion, a 6.6% year-over-year increase, exceeding analysts’ estimates of $25.05 billion. Adjusted earnings rose 4.7% to $2.90 per share, above the $2.85 forecast.
The pharmaceutical unit generated $16.38 billion in sales, surpassing expectations of $16.1 billion. Tremfya sales surged 72.5% to $2 billion, while Darzalex posted $4.2 billion in revenue. The company raised its full-year sales forecast to $101.1 billion and adjusted EPS to $11.68.
Medical technology sales reached $8.93 billion, though growth was offset by declines in older products and Abiomed’s heart pump segment.
