JPMorgan Chase reported a 41% surge in second-quarter profit to $21.2 billion, or $7.70 per share, surpassing analyst expectations of $5.64 per share. Total net revenue climbed 28% to $57 billion from $45 billion a year earlier.

The results included a $4.6 billion net gain from Visa shares and $1 billion in equity investment gains. Excluding these one-time items, net income still reached $16.9 billion, exceeding Street forecasts. CEO Jamie Dimon cited a resilient U.S. economy and market tailwinds but warned of underlying risks.

The earnings kick off what analysts anticipate will be a strong season for large banks, reflecting robust market activity and investment performance.
