First Trust Nasdaq Food & Beverage ETF offers a trailing dividend yield over twice that of Invesco’s PBJ, despite similar expense ratios.

Invesco Food & Beverage ETF (PBJ) and First Trust Nasdaq Food & Beverage ETF (FTXG) serve distinct investor preferences despite similar expense ratios of 0.60% and $0.61. PBJ provides greater liquidity and lower historical drawdowns, while FTXG appeals to income-focused investors with a trailing dividend yield more than double its counterpart’s.

PBJ tracks a quantitative index of 30 stocks, emphasizing share price trajectory and earnings expansion, with 86% of its 31 holdings in the consumer defensive sector. FTXG follows the Nasdaq US Smart Food & Beverage Index, targeting domestic food production and distribution companies. Both funds exhibit comparable volatility relative to the S&P 500, though PBJ’s methodology prioritizes fundamental quality and executive actions.

The yield gap remains a key differentiator, with FTXG’s higher payout potentially offsetting its narrower focus for dividend-seeking investors.
