The HKSAR government names three new members and reappoints a convenor to the FRRP for a three-year term starting July 2026.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has appointed three new members and reappointed one convenor to the Financial Reporting Review Panel (FRRP). The new members—James Liu Hong-yuen, Benson Wong Wai-bong, and George Yang Yong—will serve alongside reappointed convenor Ernest Lee Chun-ho for a three-year term beginning 16 July 2026.
The FRRP reviews potential breaches of accounting standards in listed companies’ financial statements and advises the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC). The panel’s work supports regulatory oversight and investor protection. Outgoing members Carrie Lau Kar-yee, Hung Ming Yi, and Wang Xin will retire, with the AFRC acknowledging their contributions.
AFRC CEO Janey Lai stated the panel’s input helps identify non-compliance with accounting requirements, reinforcing financial reporting accountability. The appointments aim to strengthen regulatory effectiveness in Hong Kong’s markets.
