Coinbase has obtained UK regulatory approval to offer stocks and derivatives, marking its largest product expansion in a key international market. The Financial Conduct Authority granted the exchange a MiFID license, enabling it to provide traditional financial instruments beyond cryptocurrencies for the first time in the UK.

Retail users will gain access to equity trading, while institutional and advanced traders can trade derivatives, including crypto, equity, and commodity perpetual futures. The move aligns with Coinbase’s strategy to become an “everything exchange,” competing with brokerages and fintech platforms globally.

The UK authorization complements Coinbase’s existing e-money and crypto licenses, positioning it as one of the most regulated crypto firms in the market. The approval comes as Britain finalizes its broader crypto regulatory framework.
