Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Japan’s Mitsui & Co. have expanded their energy partnership to include liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil, sulfur, and shipping. The agreement, signed during ADNOC’s CEO visit to Japan, establishes a framework for long-term supply arrangements and portfolio optimization in LNG and crude oil markets.

The collaboration builds on a decades-long relationship, with ADNOC currently supplying around one-third of Japan’s crude oil imports. It also explores opportunities in lower-carbon fuels, including methanol and projects at the UAE’s TA’ZIZ industrial hub, alongside broader international energy investments.

The deal aligns with ADNOC’s strategy to expand its global gas and trading footprint, following the recent launch of an integrated LNG marketing and trading platform.
