The Southbound Bond Connect quota has been increased to 800 billion yuan from 500 billion yuan, expanding mainland investors’ access to Hong Kong’s bond market.

This move is expected to support demand for Hong Kong dollar and offshore yuan denominated debt.

The increase is part of a broader push to deepen financial integration between the mainland and Hong Kong, which also includes a new gold clearing system and delivery connect with the Shanghai Gold Exchange.
