Federal Reserve Governor Waller’s hawkish remarks and strong US services data keep the USD steady against major peers.

The US Dollar Index (DXY) traded neutrally around 100.90 on Monday, supported by Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller’s commitment to the 2% inflation target. Waller described the policy risk landscape as shifted, citing a stabilized labor market amid rising inflation pressures.

EUR/USD hovered near 1.1440, constrained by ECB Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel’s warning about persistent Eurozone inflation risks. GBP/USD edged up to 1.3390, reflecting market focus on the BoE’s cautious stance versus the Fed’s inflation-driven policy. USD/JPY climbed to 162.10, driven by US data resilience and yield differentials.

AUD/USD rose to 0.6960 after Australia’s TD-MI Inflation Gauge slowed to 3.9% year-over-year in June, easing some pressure on the Reserve Bank of Australia.
