Federal program deposits $1,000 into savings accounts for 1.4 million children born since 2025, totaling $6.25 billion in pledges.
The U.S. government launched Trump Accounts, a federal savings program depositing $1,000 into accounts for 1.4 million newborns born between 2025 and 2028. The initiative, announced in a July 6 ceremony, has already enrolled 6 million children, including those without seed funds.
Families of 6 million children have claimed accounts since the program’s July 4 debut. Wealthy donors, including Michael and Susan Dell, pledged $6.25 billion toward the initiative. Older children under 18 may participate but receive no initial deposit.
President Trump marked the launch by jointly ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq from the Oval Office, a first for both markets.
