A record $112.5 billion has been raised through 79 U.S. IPOs in 2026, a 625% year-over-year increase, according to Renaissance Capital. JPMorgan Chase projects over $260 billion in total equity issuance this year, raising concerns about market absorption capacity.

The surge includes high-profile listings like SpaceX, which raised $85.7 billion at a $1.77 trillion valuation. OpenAI and Anthropic, valued at $1 trillion and $965 billion respectively, could further pressure markets if they proceed with IPOs in 2026 or 2027.

Analysts warn the influx of new equity may force investors to reallocate capital, potentially triggering a $1 trillion decline in existing stock valuations as liquidity shifts to new offerings.
