The organization reduced staff by 54 to streamline operations and refocus on core protocol and ecosystem layers.

The Ethereum Foundation cut approximately 20% of its workforce, or 54 employees, as part of a broader restructuring effort. The move aims to create a more focused and efficient organizational structure, aligning teams into five main work clusters covering protocol, access, user, community, and institutional layers, alongside operations and management support teams.

Prior to the restructuring, the foundation had not disclosed its total headcount, but the reduction follows a months-long review of operations. Affected employees will receive severance and transition support, according to the foundation. The changes are intended to enhance agility and better position the organization for future development.
