June flash PMI data for France shows stronger-than-expected growth in services and manufacturing, lifting the composite index.
France’s June flash services PMI rose to 47.4, exceeding the 46.0 forecast and improving from May’s 44.3. The manufacturing PMI also outperformed, reaching 50.7 against a 50.0 estimate, up from 49.7 previously.
The composite PMI climbed to 47.6, above the 46.4 consensus and the prior 44.9. The data suggests a pickup in economic activity, though readings below 50 still indicate contraction.
Markets may view the stronger-than-expected figures as a sign of resilience in the eurozone’s second-largest economy.
