Charles Schwab launches S&P 500 wagers

Charles Schwab is entering the prediction markets space with a product that allows yes-or-no bets on whether the S&P 500 closes above or below a target price.

The company’s move into prediction markets follows its launch of spot Bitcoin and Ether trading for retail clients in May.

The market for prediction contracts is projected to reach $1 trillion in annual volume by 2030, with companies like Kalshi and Polymarket already offering similar event contracts related to the S&P 500.

Charles Schwab reported a net income of $2.5 billion for the first quarter of 2026, marking a significant milestone for the company as it expands into digital asset services.
