AWS AI revenue run rate reaches $15 billion, outpacing its early growth by 260 times, driven by rapid adoption and custom chip demand.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy revealed AWS AI revenue has reached a $15 billion run rate, 260 times larger than AWS’s $58 million run rate three years after its launch. The growth underscores AI’s unprecedented adoption speed, with AWS revenue rising 28% year over year to $37.59 billion, the fastest pace in 15 quarters.

Jassy highlighted AWS’s $150 billion annualized run rate and a $20 billion run rate for custom chips, including Graviton and Trainium. Bedrock customer spending surged 170% quarter over quarter, supported by capacity commitments from OpenAI and Anthropic.

The comparison to AWS’s early growth frames AI as a transformational cycle, with Jassy emphasizing the scale and velocity of current adoption.
