Alphabet’s 6.11% SpaceX stake, previously undervalued, now marks to market at $122 billion following the IPO’s $2.1 trillion valuation.
SpaceX’s June 11 IPO priced at $135 per share, opened at $150, and closed at $160.95, valuing the company at $2.1 trillion. The $75 billion raised surpassed Saudi Aramco’s 2019 record, making it the largest IPO in history.
Alphabet’s 2015 $900 million investment in SpaceX, now 6.11% of the company, was previously carried at a fraction of its worth. With SpaceX’s public listing, this stake is now valued at approximately $122 billion, exceeding Alphabet’s annual net income.
The IPO proceeds will fund Starship production, Starlink expansion, and orbital infrastructure, potentially benefiting suppliers and partners like Alphabet.
