The acquisition of a 32-megawatt facility in Boden marks HIVE’s shift from leasing to ownership in Sweden.
HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd (TSX:HIVE, NASDAQ:HIVE) received approval from the Boden Municipal Council to acquire a 32-megawatt data center in Sweden, transitioning from a leased to an owned asset. The deal, pending customary closing conditions, involves a facility housing HIVE’s Swedish operations since 2018.
The company has invested over 960 million Swedish kronor ($100 million) in the Boden region over eight years, including 575 million kronor in taxes. HIVE highlighted its commitment to renewable energy and local partnerships as part of its long-term strategy.
Executives emphasized the move aligns with HIVE’s goal to build sovereign AI computing infrastructure in Sweden, citing Boden’s support for clean power and long-term investment.
