Spot gold in India rises 1.36% day-over-day as USD/INR conversion lifts domestic rates, FXStreet data shows.
Gold prices in India advanced to INR 13,161.69 per gram on Thursday, a 1.36% increase from INR 12,985.20 the previous day. The move reflects a rise in the local currency equivalent of global dollar-denominated gold rates, adjusted for USD/INR exchange rates and local measurement units.
Prices are updated daily based on market rates at publication time. The tola, a traditional unit, also rose to INR 153,515.30 from INR 151,456.80. FXStreet notes that local rates may vary slightly from reference prices.
Central banks globally added 1,136 tonnes of gold worth $70 billion to reserves in 2022, underscoring demand for the metal as a safe-haven asset and hedge against inflation and currency depreciation.
