SpaceX’s 9.9% rally offset semiconductor declines, while banks and industrials lifted the Dow midday Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.8% by midday Tuesday, extending Monday’s record high, as financials and industrials led gains. JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs contributed 168 points combined, while Caterpillar added 142 points after rebounding from last week’s sell-off.
The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.4%, weighed down by a 1.4% drop in Nvidia and a 3.5% decline in Broadcom. The Invesco QQQ Trust, tracking the Nasdaq-100, slid 1.2%. SpaceX’s 9.9% surge partially cushioned the tech-heavy index’s losses.
The S&P 500 edged down 0.2%, reflecting mixed sector performance amid easing geopolitical tensions and lower oil prices.
