Bitcoin fell nearly 2.5% from its $67,250 peak after the Bank of Japan raised its short-term policy rate by 25 basis points to 1.0%, the highest since 1995. The move targets inflation risks tied to energy costs and Middle East supply disruptions, tightening global liquidity conditions.

Historical data shows BTC averaged a 5.74% decline in the 30 days following the last four BOJ hikes. Drawdowns ranged from 5.59% in March 2024 to 14.77% in January 2025, with a single outlier gain of 8.31% in December 2025. Analysts project potential downside between $62,700 and $56,700 if past patterns repeat.

BTC maintained June gains despite the initial drop but faces renewed pressure as traders assess the rate hike’s impact on risk assets. The psychological $60,000 support level remains a key focus amid broader macroeconomic uncertainty.
