Vion Food Group has agreed to sell its foodservice division to Group of Butchers, marking the final major step in its exit from the sector. The deal includes subsidiaries Salomon FoodWorld and production sites in Germany, employing around 650 staff. Financial terms remain undisclosed, with Vion citing a shift in strategic priorities toward Dutch livestock and export markets.

The transaction follows Vion’s broader asset sales in Germany, aligning with its long-term value strategy. The foodservice unit supplies frozen beef, pork, and chicken to foodservice customers, though its growth potential no longer fits Vion’s refocused operations. Group of Butchers has not yet commented on the acquisition.

Vion CEO Tjarda Klimp stated the deal provides a strong platform for Salomon FoodWorld’s continued expansion while allowing Vion to concentrate resources on core supply chains. The company emphasized deliberate investment choices to maximize value in its remaining segments.
