Pet retailer Chewy reports 7.7% year-over-year sales growth, driven by 200,000 new customers and a $165 billion industry tailwind.

Chewy (NYSE: CHWY) posted a 7.7% year-over-year sales increase in its latest quarter, fueled by over 200,000 net customer additions. The company benefits from a loyal customer base, with 84% of net sales generated through its autoship program.

The pet industry remains resilient, with spending projected to reach $165 billion this year, up from $158 billion in 2025. Chewy, which generated $12.8 billion in trailing-12-month revenue, is expanding into pet healthcare services to bolster profitability.

Despite near-term consumer spending pressures, analysts see long-term growth potential in the sector, particularly for companies with strong customer retention and diversified revenue streams.
