The departure of a key software and engineering leader adds to Lucid Motors’ leadership turmoil ahead of its midsize EV launch.
Lucid Motors (LCID) has lost its senior vice president of engineering and software, Emad Dlala, less than two weeks after Silvio Napoli became CEO. Dlala, a decade-long veteran, oversaw critical vehicle technology development and was recently promoted to lead the Engineering and Digital division.
The exit follows a turbulent 18 months for Lucid, including the unexpected departure of former CEO Peter Rawlinson in early 2025 and the wrongful termination lawsuit from ex-chief engineer Eric Bach. The company also cut 12% of its workforce in February 2026 amid leadership changes.
Dlala’s departure occurs as Lucid prepares to launch its first midsize EV, a move expected to expand its market beyond luxury models like the Air sedan and Gravity SUV.
