Valmet has launched Valmet 3D Fiber technology, a production system for high-speed manufacturing of three-dimensional fiber-based packaging. The solution aims to meet rising demand for plastic alternatives in the packaging sector, offering lightweight yet durable products like trays and food containers.

The technology supports circular economy practices by recirculating side streams and trim waste during production. It was developed in collaboration with Metsä Spring, a unit of Metsä Group, over a four-year partnership focused on converting wood-based fibers into packaging.

Valmet highlighted the system’s efficiency and potential to expand market opportunities for packaging manufacturers. The launch aligns with the company’s broader strategy to advance renewable materials and resource efficiency in packaging production.
