Germany’s consumer price index rose 2.6% year-over-year in May, matching preliminary estimates and slowing from April’s 2.9% increase. The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) also held at 2.7%, down from 2.9% in the prior month.

Markets are monitoring the data for implications on European Central Bank policy, with rate cuts still anticipated later this year despite persistent inflation concerns.
