The Nguni anomaly shows gold-in-soil values up to 730 ppb, with potential for expansion near existing discoveries.
Ongwe Minerals identified a 5km gold-in-soil anomaly at its Omatjete Gold Project in Namibia, dubbed the Nguni anomaly. Soil samples returned assay results up to 730 parts per billion gold, with trends above 100 ppb across multi-kilometre stretches.
The anomaly is located 17km from Ongwe’s Manga gold discovery and 55km from Wia Gold’s Kokoseb project, which holds 2.93 million ounces. The mineralisation appears concentrated in meta-sediments near granitic contacts, similar to Kokoseb’s geological setting.
Ongwe used its detectORE system for initial assessment, followed by infill sampling at 100m spacing. Further sampling at 50m resolution is underway to refine the anomaly’s boundaries.
