United Spirits, the Indian subsidiary of Diageo, has agreed to sell a production facility in Odisha to Cupid Breweries & Distilleries for Rs225m ($2.4m). The Gopalpur site has a monthly capacity of 250,000 cases, with Cupid describing the deal as a key growth move.

The sale follows United Spirits’ recent closure of a Hyderabad plant as part of a multi-year supply-chain overhaul approved in 2023. Cupid Breweries, rebranded in 2024 to enter the beverage alcohol sector, has been actively pursuing acquisitions to expand its manufacturing footprint.

Cupid Breweries has already paid a Rs10m advance under the agreement, with no immediate market reaction disclosed.
