France’s Casino Group and the Zouari family have signed a partnership agreement to develop the Franprix and Monop’ convenience retail networks in France.

The companies said the agreement is designed to accelerate the development of the two networks through a revised organisational structure centred on convenience retail operations

Casino Group and the Zouari family said they have worked together for more than two decades. As part of the deal, the structure dedicated to the development of the Franprix network will be set up as a capital partnership. The Zouari family will hold approximately 60% while Franprix will hold the remainder.

This entity will initially run around 30 Franprix stores. Casino Group CEO Philippe Palazzi said: “This development marks a new step in our partnership with the Zouari Family. It reflects our desire to strengthen an agile, entrepreneurial and growth-oriented model of convenience. “By relying on a long-standing partner who has been committed to our brands for a long time, we are giving ourselves the means to accelerate the development of Franprix and Monoprix, while consolidating the momentum of our network.” The agreement follows a model already in place within Monoprix through a dedicated structure that currently operates around 50 Monop’ stores.
