Treasury Secretary confirms $215 billion Bitcoin reserve while Senate reviews digital asset legislation to clarify regulatory oversight.

The US Treasury holds 328,372 BTC, valued at approximately $215 billion, according to testimony at a Senate Finance Committee hearing. The disclosure comes as lawmakers push to formalize digital asset regulations through the CLARITY Act, which has passed the House and awaits Senate consolidation.

The CLARITY Act aims to address securities and commodities laws, with versions approved by Senate Banking and Agriculture committees. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent endorsed the legislation, emphasizing its role in establishing US best practices for digital asset custody and oversight.

Bessent did not clarify whether $1 billion in digital assets seized from Iran since February were included in the reported reserves. Separately, the Treasury imposed sanctions on four crypto exchanges linked to Iran amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
