Nio reported a 69% year-over-year increase in vehicle deliveries through May, defying a 17% drop in China’s new-energy vehicle sales.

Nio delivered 150,526 vehicles year-to-date through May, marking a 69% increase compared to the same period last year. The company’s May deliveries alone reached 37,705 units, up 62% year-over-year, driven by strong demand for its new ES9 flagship SUV launched on May 28.

China’s broader new-energy vehicle market saw a 17% decline in sales during the first four months of 2026. Domestic automakers face intense competition and a price war, exacerbated by government subsidies and cost pressures.

Nio’s adjusted operating profit in the first quarter and continued sales momentum highlight its resilience amid industry challenges, positioning it as a standout in China’s crowded EV sector.
