Scottish EV maker Munro eyes domestic production to serve mining, defence and construction sectors amid a £35bn market opportunity.
Munro, a Scottish electric vehicle manufacturer, will build a UK factory in 2027 to supply industrial clients in mining, defence and construction. The plant aims to scale output to thousands of vehicles annually, leveraging bespoke demand to offset higher UK costs.
The company currently produces dozens of vehicles per year in Scotland and expects to reach hundreds within the next 12 months. Munro initially converted Land Rovers to electric drivetrains before launching its Series M model for off-road and heavy-duty applications.
Munro targets a £35bn market for industrial-use EVs and has appointed new executives as it expands. The move aligns with the UK’s goal of producing 1.3 million cars annually by 2035, up from an expected 824,000 this year.
