Toyota files for a $2 billion Texas expansion, targeting 2,000 new jobs and production by 2030 amid mixed global sales trends.
Toyota Motor Corporation has sought approval to build a $2 billion vehicle assembly line at its Texas complex, named Project Orca. The investment includes $1.05 billion for buildings and $950 million for machinery, with construction set to begin in late 2026 and production in 2030.
The project is expected to create 2,000 jobs between 2028 and 2030. Toyota’s global sales fell 3.1% year-over-year in April to 849,306 vehicles, driven by declines in the Middle East and China, though Japanese sales rose 24.2%.
