Nvidia’s new Arm-based RTX Spark Superchip for PCs triggers a sell-off in rival chipmakers’ stocks as it enters the Windows processor market.
Shares of Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm dropped sharply after Nvidia unveiled its RTX Spark Superchip at Computex, targeting the Windows PC processor market. Intel and AMD fell about 3% each, while Qualcomm declined 7% as Nvidia’s entry threatens their dominance.
Nvidia’s new chip, based on Arm architecture, will debut in laptops and desktops from Dell and Lenovo this fall. Unlike previous Nvidia GPUs, RTX Spark integrates a custom CPU, eliminating the need for Intel or AMD processors. The chip is designed for AI agents, gaming, and productivity software.
Nvidia shares rose 4% on the announcement, while Arm Holdings surged over 16%. PC makers poised to adopt the new chip also saw gains, reflecting investor optimism about Nvidia’s expansion into the CPU market.
