Intercontinental Exchange founder Jeff Sprecher calls Hyperliquid a major blockchain venue with higher volume than Nasdaq.

Hyperliquid, a blockchain-based trading platform, has exceeded Nasdaq in trading volume, according to Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) founder Jeff Sprecher. He highlighted the platform’s growth at Bernstein’s 42nd Annual Strategic Decisions Conference, noting it was built by just 11 developers and attracts traders typically active on ICE and Nasdaq markets.

Sprecher described the team behind Hyperliquid as “extremely smart” and warned traditional finance players against ignoring its rise. The platform’s weekend oil trading dynamics have drawn attention from early adopters, signaling its expanding influence in crypto and traditional markets.

Crypto majors saw a modest rebound, with BTC rising 1-2% to $73.3k, while HYPE surged 10% following Sprecher’s remarks. JPMorgan analysts suggested a shift away from the debasement trade, pressuring BTC and gold lower.
