European energy utilities are negotiating offtake agreements for an additional 3 to 4 million tons of liquefied natural gas from Canada’s Ksi Lisims LNG project. The facility, Canada’s second LNG export terminal, already has commitments for 5 million tons of its annual output, according to project leaders.

Ksi Lisims will have a total annual capacity of 12 million tons. The push for new deals reflects concerns over supply disruptions from traditional sources, including the Gulf and Russia, as demand for alternative gas routes rises.

No immediate market reaction was reported, but the shift underscores Europe’s efforts to diversify energy imports amid geopolitical tensions.
