SQM reports higher lithium volumes and favorable pricing trends
Sociedad Quimica y Minera reported a strong first quarter with higher lithium volumes and favorable pricing trends. The company’s Novandino Lithium partnership generated over $530 million in contributions to the Chilean state.
Lithium sales volumes rose 25% year over year to approximately 69,000 metric tons of lithium carbonate equivalent. The company now expects global lithium demand to exceed 1.9 million metric tons this year.
SQM increased its full-year lithium sales volume guidance based on the outlook for a tight supply-demand balance. The company is operating at full capacity and investing in future growth and production expansion.
