Immunic appoints Erik Lundgren as CEO to lead commercialization efforts for its late-stage multiple sclerosis therapy candidate.
Immunic Inc (NASDAQ:IMUX, FRA:10VA) has appointed Erik Lundgren as chief executive officer, replacing Daniel Vitt, who will remain on the board and oversee scientific strategy. The move coincides with the company’s advancement of vidofludimus calcium, an oral therapy for relapsing and primary progressive multiple sclerosis, through pivotal phase 3 trials.
Lundgren joins from Genentech, where he served as senior vice president of the Commercial Portfolio Organization, overseeing strategy across therapeutic areas. His prior roles include leadership positions in Roche’s neuroscience business and general manager of Roche Czech Republic. The company aims to transition into a commercial-stage biotechnology firm with Lundgren’s appointment.
Immunic is currently conducting the phase 3 ENSURE program for relapsing multiple sclerosis and plans to launch a similar program for primary progressive MS. The board cited Lundgren’s commercial experience as critical for the company’s next growth phase.
