Alphabet unveils six AI-driven ad formats to boost commercial intent and counter competition from ChatGPT and Meta AI.
Alphabet Inc’s Google introduced six AI-powered ad formats at its Marketing Live event, leveraging its Gemini AI model to target offline budgets and social media ad spend. The new tools include Conversational Discovery ads, AI-enhanced Shopping Ads, and a Universal Commerce Protocol for embedded checkouts in AI Search responses.
The move follows investor concerns over AI disintermediation, with Google Search facing competition from ChatGPT’s 900 million users and Meta AI’s 1 billion users. UBS analysts cited data showing 75% of users make faster decisions using AI Overviews, suggesting higher commercial intent.
Google aims to strengthen its position in the agentic search landscape by integrating ads into AI-driven interactions, including Highlighted Answers and a Business Agent for Leads feature.
