Survey shows 88% of crypto holders would consider bitcoin-backed loans, but only 14% currently use them.
Bitcoin-backed lending could expand to a $1 trillion consumer market within ten years, according to new research. The study, conducted with Protocol Theory, surveyed 1,244 cryptocurrency holders in the U.S. and Australia, revealing a significant gap between interest and adoption.
Currently, the consumer bitcoin-backed loan market stands at $3 billion, despite digital assets being a multi-trillion-dollar asset class. The broader crypto lending market reached $73.6 billion in Q3 2025, per Galaxy Research, but trust remains a hurdle following the 2022 credit collapse.
Ledn co-founder Mauricio Di Bartolomeo noted demand exists, but confidence in lending infrastructure must improve to close the adoption gap.
