MP stock declines in 2026 as valuation concerns overshadow strategic partnerships and strong Q1 earnings.

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) shares have struggled in 2026, trading flat or lower despite securing major deals with Apple and the Department of Defense. The company reported a first-quarter revenue beat and is transitioning toward profitability, yet its stock remains under pressure.

MP operates the only major rare-earth mine in the U.S., a critical asset for reducing reliance on China’s supply chain. The company’s Mountain Pass mine and Texas magnet factory are pivotal for domestic production, but investors appear focused on valuation rather than strategic importance.

Despite a 223% gain in 2025, MP’s stock has dipped toward pre-DOD partnership levels, signaling skepticism over its long-term growth prospects.
