He cited a Queens teacher as an example, arguing that even doubling his tax bill would not address systemic issues like housing costs or income inequality.
Bezos acknowledged the wealth gap, noting the richest 10% of Americans control nearly 70% of wealth, but blamed political scapegoating rather than tax policy. He proposed eliminating income taxes for lower earners, highlighting a nurse earning $75,000 who pays over $12,000 annually in taxes.
While calling billionaire tax hikes a valid debate topic, Bezos stopped short of endorsing them, emphasizing existing progressive tax structures.
