Stock and bond markets observe Memorial Day with early closures Friday and a full shutdown Monday, altering trading schedules.
US stock and bond markets will close early on Friday at 2:00 p.m. ET and remain fully shut on Monday for Memorial Day. Regular trading resumes Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. ET for equities and at standard hours for bonds.
Bond markets typically close at 5:00 p.m. ET but will halt operations three hours early on Friday. Futures markets, including CME Group and Cboe products, will operate on modified schedules, with equity and interest rate futures halting at 12:00 p.m. CT on Monday before reopening at 5:00 p.m. CT.
The closure compresses trading activity into a shorter window, limiting liquidity ahead of the holiday. No electronic or after-hours trading will be available for cash equities on Monday.
