Ethereum is taking steps to enhance privacy on its network. The upgrades include account abstraction and FOCIL, which are designed to make private transactions harder to censor.

Vitalik Buterin outlined these near-term upgrades, which also include keyed nonces and new access-layer tools. These changes aim to prevent onchain transaction linking and hide users’ wallet queries from centralized node providers.

The upgrades are seen as necessary for the widespread adoption of blockchain technology. Institutions have highlighted privacy as a key feature for adoption, and Ethereum is moving to make private transactions a native feature of the network.
