The facility will handle maintenance for 28 wide-body aircraft simultaneously and is set for completion by mid-2030.
Emirates has begun construction on a $5.1bn engineering complex in Dubai South, designed to become one of the world’s largest aircraft maintenance facilities. The 1.1 million square metre site will include workshops, storage, and the largest free-span hangar at 285m wide, supporting heavy maintenance for wide-body aircraft.
The project, overseen by China Railway Construction Corporation, will expand Emirates’ current capacity at Dubai International Airport. It targets sustainability standards and is expected to create new administrative and training spaces, alongside logistics infrastructure.
Completion is scheduled for mid-2030, with the facility set to rank as the largest steel structure in the GCC region. Emirates aims to enhance its maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities to meet growing demand for aircraft services.
